GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Maintain operating machinery, install new machinery, and perform building maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for maintaining equipment sufficient to meet/exceed operating standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure that machines run at their maximum capacity.
- Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, blueprint, repair manuals, or schematics.
- Inspect drives, motors, chains and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following check list.
- Clean or lubricate shaft, bearings, gears, or other machine components. Repair or replace any defective parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
- Handle routine and complex troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems and make necessary repairs.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical, or electronic components, pipe systems plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Operate cutting torches and welding equipment to fabricate or repair machinery.
- Inspect used parts to determine dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts.
- Perform facility maintenance.
- Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, drywall, or other building structures.
- Share recommendations for continuous improvement (productivity, quality, cost, and/or safety).
- Complete all paperwork neatly, work orders correctly, on time and in accordance with Company guidelines.
- Work with common hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Follow and comprehend verbal and written orders.
- Communicate with employees particularly with regard to proper and safe utilization of equipment
- Able to work alone or as a team member.
- Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts.
- Comply with and maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
- Take responsibility for continuing to improve skills and knowledge.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
- Follow OSHA guidelines, using LOTO
REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and LOTO procedures
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of 24V and 240-480V electrical systems, experience using a volt-ohm meter and interpreting electrical schematics a plus
- Ability to interpret schematics (mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic)
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
- Experience welding and fabricating
- Strong troubleshooting skills a must
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment including all relevant safety certifications including lockout tagout and confined space.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, GED, Trade School certificate preferred.
- Experience equivalent to five years in a related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors and employees of organization on routine and complex technical issues.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve complex, involved technical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position spends significant amounts of time standing, walking, using hands and reaching with arms. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required. All forms of visual ability are used in this job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position regularly works around moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and loud noise levels.
