GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

 Responsible for performing duties as assigned by Supervisor. Works supporting all the production lines throughout the operation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will assist on machines loading, unloading, and doing bundle counts for strapping.
  • Maintain production rate that machine is running at.
  • Assist with cleaning and minor preventive maintenance on machinery.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Shred or bale waste material from machines.
  • Follow all safety rules, wearing all required PPE.
  • Arrange tie sheets correctly and get correct coverage per unit.
  • Read and understand work orders/factory tickets.
  • Run a load former on finishing machines.
  • Can catch items off finishing machines.
  • Handwork and hand gluing.
  • Can sort for quality and restack to quality standards.
  • Operate hand bander.
  • Can bundle and use strapper.
  • Operate shrink wrapper.
  • Housekeeping and cleaning.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • None required; 3-6 months manufacturing experience preferred

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, write simple correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and be able to read a ruler.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, deal with problems involving a few concrete variable standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position spends significant amounts of time standing, walking, using hands, reaching with arms and requires the ability to talk and hear.  Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is necessary with regular lifting of up to 10 pounds required.  Peripheral vision is required for the job.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and loud noise levels.
